New opponents in the Preferente League

Peña los Compadres Alevin A team will meet the following teams in next season’s preferente league… Good luck!:-

Malaga CF, Puerto Malagueño, Malaka, Estepona, EF Velez, Vazquez Cultural, Portada Alta, Faro Torrox, Benamiel, Las Lagunas, Ronda, Cortijillo Bazán, Cártama Estación (promoted grupo II), Peña los Compadres (¡o-e, o-e, o-e!), Tiro Pichón (promoted grupo I), Mortadelo o 26 de febrero (tight battle for second promotion spot in grupo II – 2 games to play)

The league isn’t over yet!

Although the top spot is clearly won by Atletico  Estación, who haven’t lost a match all season, the competition for second place and promotion to the Preferente league is still very much on!  Before the weekend, San Pedro were ahead by 1 point on 66 and Compadres close behind on 65.  However, San Pedro didn’t get the result they wanted at Fuengirola, losing 5-3, so stay on 66, whereas Compadres got their three points by winning at home against Alhaurin to go 2 points clear at 68.

Peña los Compadres 7 – Alhaurin 2

An important game for Peña Compadres, who didn’t do well in the away fixture when they drew 2-2.  A confident start and a quick goal from John set the perfect base for a comfortable win.  Goals from Esteban, Moreno and German soon followed, and after half time Sergio scored a further 2 goals (one great header!), to get his hat-trick.  A couple of nice breaks from the visitors allowed them to get 2 goals, but the just before the final whistle, Jorge scored the last goal of the match to give a final score of 7-2.  A solid performance by the whole team, in what could have been a complicated match.

Half Time : 4-0
Full Time : 7-2
Goals : John, Sergio Esteban (3), Moreno, German, Jorge

Torremolinos 3 – Peña los Compadres 4

Wow…. what a great result after a well fought match away at Torremolinos.  A good goal by John settled the lads back down to equalize very soon after they had just gone down 1-0.   A couple of great goals by Jorge took us to 3-1 lead at the half time whistle.  Torremolinos came out confident, scored shortly after the break, and then equalized about 10 minutes before the end.  Both teams played well, and five minutes before the final whistle, Manzano scored a cracker to win the match and put us back into contention for promotion to Preferente league.

Half time : 1-3
Full time : 3-4
Goals : John, Jorge (2), Manzano

Peña Compadres 2 – San Pedro 4

Not the best result for the Los Compadres Alevin A team on their newly surfaced pitch.  Following heavy rain and thunderstorms in the morning, this 13:00h start was one of the very few matches that took place on this very wet weekend.  Both teams had to fight against the heavy rain and flooded pitch as well as each other, and the San Pedro team won this important “6-pointer”.  The Compadres lads were obviously disappointed to have lost under these conditions, but that’s football, and there are still 4 matches to play, so heads up and onto the next match at Torremolinos.

Half time : 0-2
Full time : 2-4
Goals : Sergio, German

Estación 4 – Peña Compadres 2

The team arrived in Cartama Estación in good spirits and ready for a tough match against the league leaders, who haven’t lost a single match all season.  A fine first half effort resulted in 1-1 with a great goal by Javi from the centre kick-off just before the whistle.  The second half was exciting with plenty of chances for both teams, but the match was won by the better team on the day.
With some unexpected results from other league matches, these 3 points lost were not quite as important as they could have been.

Half time : 1-1
Final result : 4-2
Goal scorers : Javi, Jorge

Peña Compadres 5 – Malaga CF 2

3 important points won by the Peña Compadres lads on a windy day against the visitors from Málaga.

Half time : 3-1
Full time : 5-2
Goals : Sergio Esteban, John, Jorge (2), Antoñito

Peña Compadres 5 – Marbella Paraiso 0

A great performance by the Los Compadres team against the visitors from Marbella Paraiso, who put on a good battle, but only had one real shot on goal thanks to some great defending by Yousef, Moreno & Miguel.  This came from a free kick in the second half, which was well executed, but the goal was denied by a fantastic save by Benito.
German opened the scoresheet after just a few minutes, followed by an incredible free kick conversion by Yousef.  John did a great job in the midfield, despite being closely marked throughout and Jorge made some good attacks up front.  Sergio was also marked tightly, but put on a great performance and lined up a couple of great passes in front of the goal, converted by Moreno and Juampe.  Manzano also scored a brilliant goal from a fast ball down the right wing.  The whole team gave it their all from start to finish and definitely deserved to win these important 3 points …..well done!

Half time : 3-0
Full time : 5-0
Goal scorers : German, Yousef, Moreno, Manzano, Juampe

Tiro Pichón 0 – Peña Compadres 3

A well contested match, which went into half time with no goals, although Peña Compadres had mostly dominated but with a few missed chances. Sergio Esteban opened the score sheet by scoring from a penalty shortly after the start of the second half, and then scored a second goal as the Compadres visitors started to find their form and put together some good attacking moves.  The third goal was a cracker from Antonio, to secure these important there points for Compadres.
Half time : 0-0
Full time : 0-3
Goal scorers : Sergio Esteban (2), Antonio

Peña Compadres vs Malaga CF – Suspended

The match had barely started when the clouds opened and torrential rain soon flooded the pitch.  After just a few minutes, the decision to suspend the match was an easy one to make.  John was in England this weekend to train with Colchester, and was sorry to hear the weather in Marbella was so bad, but delighted to not have missed the match!
